Oratorio to open brand new amphitheatre in Islamic Culture Capital 2014 Sharjah, UAE

Rich projection, automation, live action and four of the Arabian music scene’s biggest names tell the story of Islam.

Edit to add Guardian review –

Edit to add BBC Radio 4 interview (starts at 5’50”)

Edit to add Youtube clip shared by Mohammad Assaf, one of the stars of the show.  This clip appears to have been taken by an audience member ahead of the full-quality DVD being officially released shortly.  The scene depicts the prophet arriving in the city and a camel choosing where he will bed down and make his base (A camel was thought to be unbiased!).  That camel took months of training to behave so well…

Free running order/live gig script template

November 11th, 2013

When you’re running a live show, you have a lot of pressures on you.  When you’re running a show with multiple acts and links you have even more pressure – you have to hit your timings or break curfew.  Venue curfews are to be taken seriously, only last year Bruce Springsteen broke his licensed slot and the promoter had to pull the plug on his set.  That isn’t good for anyone – annoyed artists, disappointed punters, a fine from the council, and a massive pain in the backside all round.

sample of running order sheet

To avoid breaking curfew, you hit your timings.  If the headliner has a 21 minute slot and you have a 22:30 curfew, they HAVE to be performing at 22:09.  That means a 2’30s link HAS to keep to time and start at 22:06:30… and backwards through the day.  If you have 20 acts in a day, someone at the bottom of the billing overrunning means you have to cut time – and that had better not be the headliner who people paid to see!!

Attached is an excel template which you can use to plan and run multi-act events or any other events with tight timing (TV shows, etc).  I created and have used this a few times and it works for me.  Feel free to adapt it to your own needs. Read the rest of this entry »

Managing Accreditation and Visas as well as general site and production logistical support services for the Franco Dragone show celebrating the 250th anniversary of this iconic building

Huge international team from UK, Belgium, US, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania as well as local acts and performers.  Big multimedia show with a load of beautiful tableaux and live performance created over three months in Abu Dhabi.

Projection with live mapping from VYV Corp’s incredible new system backs up lighting design from Patrick Woodroffe and Adam Bassett.

Yatta Ltd provided a bespoke accreditation system for the site access – branded wristbands with printed zoned photo passes, hologram security in a laminated traditional AAA format lanyard.  We also managed the catering provisioning as well as radio shack and IT facilities.
